Recalling Landscape Tapestries of Spring Twenty-Twelve

Looking out on a white and cold landscape,
I dream of spring, though do not wish to hurry it.
Since we are in January, I look ahead
while also following Janus's glances back in time
towards my favorite Flower Hill Farm landscape tapestries
of spring twenty-twelve.

It truly is remarkable . . . experiencing the seasons . . .
imagining this lush, joyous and verdant breath of life . . .
now resting and dormant within the deepest protected layers
of crusty, cellular trunks and fleshy roots . . .
beneath the surface of frozen earth.

Hello Carol:
You picture here a garden set within a landscape which is an absolute joy to behold. Here we see foliage, flower and form, those essentials of any garden, which have, over time, been clearly placed with much thought and care and, knowing you, not a little love to create something very special indeed. And, of course, we know it all to be a haven for wildlife.

To see Flower Hill Farm in any season must be a unique experience but we suspect, judging by these images, that springtime is one of the most beautiful of all times.

And now, today, looking out on a winter's afternoon we are not at all surprised that your thoughts are of different, warmer days. But that they will come again is for sure.

I never tire of seeing your beautiful property! Out here in Wisconsin farm country, I can only attempt to capture a touch of what surrounds you for seemingly miles... these are wonderful photos that capture the sensibilities of the place so marvelously. I truly enjoyed yet another visit! Larry

Hi Carol ~ How wonderful and exciting seeing the photos of spring last year. You can just feel/sense the new growth coming awake after sleeping through winter. It's all lovely and hopeful.

Have a wonderful weekend ~ FlowerLady

I love all the wonderful flowering shrubs and trees you have on the property. We just got some more snow and now spring seems so far away.

Thanks for letting me have a stroll in your beautiful garden.
Spring is almost here, even if it might not seem like so, at least not here in London right now. We got our first snow today and everything has a fine dusting of white. It will soon be gone, revealing the emerging daffodils and tuplips again.
All the best for 2013.

The size and beauty of the viburnums and lilacs in your garden always amazes me!

The heaviness of our New England winter echoes in my own body. Seeing these images has brought such light (in both regards) to me on this cold morning.

Thanks to you, my dreams of spring are much more vivid. I especially love your word "tapestries" to describe these beautiful scenes.

Dear Carol,

How beautiful your part of Massachusetts looks; the mountains, the flowers. It all looks like a dream. I can understand why you love it so much. A city girl like me can only dream of it!

Have a lovely weekend!

One of the favorite parts of reading blogs is to be able to experience the seasons through the photos. How dreary the landscape can be in January and February without the snow to highlight the forms. Really enjoyed the look back at Spring.

On this frigid day of leftover snow, it was nice to remember that spring will come again, although I like your comment about not wanting to hurry it. Fresh snow and double digit temps would make me fall back in love with winter again.
